Wild Talk Africa was one of the world’s three top natural history conferences and the only one in Africa with its focus on the growing scope of wildlife and natural history programming. The festival attracts filmmakers from across the world as well as experts in broadcast and technology, commissioning editors, conservationists and representatives in travel and tourism. In previous years both local and international broadcasters have attended the conference. Some of these include Animal Planet, National Geographic, Smithsonian Networks, Discovery Channel International, BBC, NHK Japan Broadcasting Corp, the SABC, e.tv and Top TV.

I developed the conference portal including processing payments and entires for over 400 film submissions from over 32 countries and driving over half a million ZAR in revenue.
Each entry was used to populate the hard copy delegate handbook and facilitated meetings and correspondence between filmmakers, broadcasters and distributors.
I consolidated a single database and segmented users by delegates, customers, judges and registered users. Judges were able to login and vote on film entries, automatically calculating scores and dynamically assigning leaderboards.
The portal was shortlisted for a Bookmark Award which recognised excellence in digital design and development in South Africa.
