Red Bull approached Clickshape to conceive of and build a digital experience to accompany a mind blowing record attempt at perhaps the most gruelling endurance run in South Africa - The Drakensberg Grand Traverse.

The athletes Ryan Sandes and Ryno Grysel would be carrying a GPS tracker/transmitter on their 200km+  race. The challenge was to communicate the scale and grandeur of the event to as wide an audience as possible, including many people not well acquainted with ultra trail running.

We created a mobile optimised, responsive, live updating infographic and mapping experience that both tracked the physical route of the athletes, and creatively communicated the rich data we calculated about their performance, from the Geo-data extracted from the device they carried, in real time.
